to develop the business capacity necessary to compete in the global
marketplace. By helping the women with loans, training and quality
control expertise, Our Fair trade principles guarantees the following:
Higher Living Standards: Higher living standards,
thriving communities in the Northern Region of Ghana and a more
sustainable farming practices.
A fair price: The farmers and Shea butter
producers received a fair price for their product. The Fair Trade
price means that farmers and producers can feed their families and
that their children can go to school instead of working in the fields.
Quality products: By receiving quality control
training and a fair price, Fair Trade Shea butter producers can
avoid cost-cutting practices that sacrifice the quality of the Shea
butter we import. The Fair Trade producers' traditional artisan
processing methods result in exceptional Shea butter products we
import.
Community impact: Empowered by the economic
stability provided by Fair Trade, some members of Sekaf cooperative
societies are sending their local kids to School for the first time.

Sekaf Group provides these cooperative societies
with loans, credit facilities and quality control expertise and
a higher price for their quality processed Shea butter. This initiative
has in the medium term, alleviated poverty amongst the rural women
and in, the long term provides employment opportunities for rural
women and young people.
Our organized cooperative societies collects
shea nut products. The nuts collected are pretreated to prevent
and remove the possibility of surface molds and also as a precaution
to microbiological contamination.
The collected nuts, even from cursory observation
even appear to be of excellent quality and have been confirmed in
our laboratory analysis. We store our nuts in a well-constructed
and maintained traditional storage facility. The shea nut is very
wet when it is picked and the drying process, bagging, packaging
and storage has to be managed efficiently to ensure that the Free
Fatty Acid content remains as low as possible.
Our training on attention to details in the
areas of processing, packaging, labeling, quality control, warehousing
and shipments has made our shea nuts and shea butter products the
best in quality.
Our Quality Assurance department, apart from
providing job opportunities for quality controllers, has provided
avenues for increased quality products and increased production
of Shea nut yields therefore .
